South Carolina artist Chazwick Bundick aka Toro Y Moi, released his first lp, "Causers of This," to much critical acclaim. Chazwick and Ernest Greene (Washed Out) seem to be the leaders of this new sound that originated in the summer of 2009 and was dubbed chillwave.
